Replacement Project

Summary of Opportunity

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) owns and operates the Bay Avenue Wastewater Pump Station, located within the road right of way adjacent to 385 Bay Avenue in Parksville BC. The Pump Station receives approximately 85% of the wastewater from the City of Parksville and is an integral component of the RDN’s Northern Communities wastewater infrastructure. The Pump Station includes four (4) pumps with a total pumping capacity of 255 L/s. The Pump Station was constructed in 1974 and is in need of replacement. The design objectives for the replacement Pump Station are to meet the capacity requirements of current and future projected peak flows, and address other operational issues with the existing configuration. The Pump Station will be re-built in the vicinity of the existing location based on the results of an upgrade or relocation study.

Additional background information is provided in Section 5.1 of this Request for Proposals (RFP).The purpose of this RFP is to select a firm having the experience and expertise needed to work with RDN staff to prepare a preliminary design Report for the Bay Avenue Pump Station Replacement Project.
