On July 1, 2017 Canadian’s will celebrate the 150th birthday of our great nation and the party will continue all year long! If you or a community group you belong to are looking for ideas as to how to celebrate and for some funds to bring those ideas to life we encourage you to explore these two resources
The Canada 150 Fund - This federal funding program is available to Canadians looking to participate in local, regional and national celebrations that contribute to build a sense of pride and attachment to Canada. The imagiNation150 website is another great resource for community groups looking for ideas as to how to inspire and create community celebrations. Included within the site are a guide and handbook.
To celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial, Community Foundations of Canada, with support from the Government of Canada, has created the Community Fund for Canada's 150th. This Fund will encourage all Canadians to contribute to their communities in a way that fosters a greater sense of belonging, inclusion, and reconciliation, leaving a lasting legacy for our communities and our country. The Nanaimo Foundation is excited to partner with Community Foundations of Canada to bring this opportunity to our community!
