The Grants-in-Aid Committee meets twice a year (in May and October) to award the Grants-in-Aid funds. Grant applications will only be considered from organizations that:
- Are non-profit and provide social programs and services to the community.
- Are local in nature and the grant requested is for a specific service providing a direct benefit to residents of the Regional District.
- Demonstrate that the service provided fills a need in the community, and that there is no overlapping with services already existing.
District policy precludes awarding grants to organizations having a prime base of operations within the City of Nanaimo or the District of Lantzville, notwithstanding that such organizations may provide services outside of these areas. Organizations based in these areas should apply through the City of Nanaimo or District of Lantzville grants-in-aid process.

Please note that several grant funding programs are available - see the criteria information on our website under the Administrative Services Department and the Recreation Department to determine which is most appropriate for your organization.
Deadlines for summiting completed applications are the last Friday in April and September of each year.
