Background Information
The Board of the Regional District of Nanaimo approved the following Terms of Reference for the Electoral Area 'A' Official Community Plan Review on July 22, 2008.
The following report provides a snapshot of
Electoral Area 'A' including population demographics, an overview of how the Plan works towards the goals of the
Regional Growth Strategy, and an analysis of the development and subdivision potential based on the policies contained in the Official Community Plan and the current zoning.

As part of the OCP review, a ground water assessment and vulnerability study has been complete. The recommendations provided by the study will be considered during the OCP review and may form the basis for how groundwater is protected in
Electoral Area A.
The Regional District of Nanaimo is embarking on a review of its Electoral Area 'A' Official Community Plan. The intent of this project is to identify and evaluate options that promote physical activity through the encouragement of alternate forms of transportation.
