RDN Rebates
You may be eligible for funding to help make your property more environmentally friendly by reducing water and/or energy usage. The RDN offers rebates through the Green Building Incentive Program and the Drinking Water and Watershed Protection Program.

New! Oil to Heat Pump Rebate

$250

(only in RDN Electoral Areas and the District of Latnzville)

Complete an upgrade from oil heating to heat pump after September 1, 2015.

Septic Maintenance Rebates

$1,000

Note: Due to popular demand, we are no longer taking new applications to the septic maintenance rebate program. We will continue to accept claims from those with a valid preapproval until the end of the year. Please check back in March to learn about rebates offered in 2017.

The 2016 rebate program starts in March. Up to $1,000 is available for:

  1. Completing a Maintenance Assessment
  2. Installing Risers
  3. Installing an Effluent Filter

Rural Water Quality Stewardship Rebate Program

various rebates, $50 - $650

Residents with private wells can 1) access a voucher for one-time discounted water quality testing and 2) apply for rebates for various well protection upgrades.

Rainwater Harvesting Incentive Program

up to $750

Note: 2016 Funds are exhausted for Area B (Gabriola, Mudge, Decourcy) residents. All other Areas and Municipalities may still apply for funding.

A rebate of up to $750 is available for homeowners who install a cistern (min. 4,545 L or 1,000 imp gallons) and other eligible components as a part of a rainwater harvesting system.

New! WaterSmart Landscapes Rebates Pilot Program

up to $750

(only in RDN Water Service Areas)

The RDN is piloting a WaterSmart Landscapes Rebate Program in RDN Water Service Areas. Up to $750 is available for conducting landscape efficiency upgrades including irrigation system efficiency improvements and soil & mulch amendment As this is a pilot program, funds are limited for the 2016 year.

Sustainable Development Checklist

$500 - $1000

Homeowners and owner-builders can earn incentives for achieving a high Checklist score.

Home Energy Assessment

$150 to $200

(only in RDN Electoral Areas and the District of Lantzville)

A rebate for homeowners who complete a home energy assessment. An additional rebate is available if the follow-up assessment shows an increase in your home's EnerGuide rating!

Woodstove Exchange

$250

Replace an old wood burning appliance with an EPA certified wood burning, pellet, or gas stove or insert.

Graded Site-Cut Timber Incentive

up to $250

(only in RDN Electoral Areas and the District of Lantzville)

A rebate for homeowners who provide documentation confirming the use of site-cut timber for a structure requiring a building permit.

Residents who install an eligible Level 2 EV Charging Station can apply for this rebate.
