Solid Waste Management Planning Process Electoral Team WaterSmart's Weekly Water Saver Contest

It's time to get involved and participate in the review of the Region's solid waste management plan.

The Solid Waste Management Plan(SWMP) determines how we will reduce, reuse, recycling and compost and dispose of residual waste for the next 10 to 20 years. The current plan was approved in 2005 by the Ministry of Environment. At that time, the Plan introduced a Zero Waste Plan which included curbside food waste collection, and putting a number of landfill bans in place for commercial food waste, wood waste and other recyclable materials.

Thanks to the efforts of residents in the region, we have achieved many of the targets set in the 2005 Plan. With that in mind, we're reviewing and updating the plan to identify ways to continue those successes, to consider new targets, and to make sure the sustem if effective, economical, and environmentally sound. Please Click Here to learn more about the review process, and to become involved in the Solid Waste Management Plan Review.

Electoral Area H Official Community Plan Review

An Official Community Plan (OCP) describes a long-term vision for the future of a community and a course of action to achieve it. Objectives and policies in the OCP guide land use, servicing, and physical, social and economic changes in the community over the long term. In the 11 years since the OCP was last updated in the Electoral Area H, the pace of development has been slower than anticipated and notable changes have occurred in the area. It is time to review the OCP again and see what changes should be made to help achieve the community vision.
