Nominate Your Neighbour Who's A Water Saver

Water Saver Contest: May 1 September 1, 2016

Do you go above and beyond to save water? Maybe you have a golden lawn or drought-tolerant, native plants? Perhaps you collect rainwater, re-use water for watering your plants, use mulch in your garden beds, or save water in other ways? If you answered "yes" to any of the above, congratulations! You are a water saver. Enter Team WaterSmart's Water Saver Contest for a chance at the weekly prize draw and at the September grand prize draw for a rain barrel! Team WaterSmart will be accepting contest entries from residents across the Regional District of Nanaimo who are doing a great job of saving water outdoors, including those on private wells! Click here for details.

Community Watershed Monitoring Network

If you are passionate about the health of your local river, creek or stream, join a network of stewardship volunteers who are trained to collect water quality data to contribute to the Ministry of Environment's surface water monitoring. Equipment and resources provided by the RDN, training provided by the MoE and sampling is done by local volunteers who generously donate their time once a week for 5 weeks in the summer and 5 weeks in the fall! This enables 14 watersheds to be monitored regularly, thanks to many hands. Click Here for more information.
