The Transit Business Plan for the Regional District of Nanaimo was developed in 1997-98 to provide guidance in the development of the system over a 5-year period. It provides a framework on which future improvements to the system are to be made.
The Plan was developed with the input of a large number amount of community input. Over 50 community groups were contacted to discuss issues relating to Transit and HandyDART and a number of open houses were held to hear the largest possible number of users and non-users alike.
The result was the Transit Business Plan which was approved by the Board of the Regional District of Nanaimo in July of 1998. It has been used since that time to guide service improvements and policy direction.
