NOTICE OF NOMINATION PERIOD
PUBLIC NOTICE is given to the electors of the Regional District of Nanaimo, Electoral Area 'E' (Nanoose) that a by election will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2005 to elect one Director from Electoral Area 'E', for a term ending in December 2005.
Candidates shall be nominated in writing by two duly qualified electors of the Regional District of Nanaimo. At the time of filing the nomination documents, the candidate shall also file a written disclosure as required under the Financial Disclosure Act.
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:
AVAILABILITY OF LIST OF ELECTORS
Beginning Tuesday, February 1, 2005 until the close of general voting for the Elections, a copy of the list of registered electors will, upon signature, be available for public inspection at the offices of the Regional District of Nanaimo between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.
An elector may request that personal information respecting the elector be omitted from or obscured on the list in accordance with Section 63 of the Local Government Act until 4:00 pm, Friday, February 11, 2005.
OBJECTION OF REGISTRATION OF AN ELECTOR
An objection to the registration of a person whose name appears on the list of registered electors may be made in accordance with Section 64 of the Local Government Act until 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2005.
An objection may only be made by a person entitled to be registered as an elector of the Regional District and can only be made on the basis that the person whose name appears has died or is not qualified to be registered as an elector of the Regional District of Nanaimo.
