Upgrades to Drinking Water at San Pareil

At the September 12, 2017 RDN Special Board meeting, the construction contract for the San Pareil Water Service Area Ultra-violet (UV) Disinfection Upgrades Project was awarded to Ridgeline Mechanical Ltd.

Construction will begin in mid-October and is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. Currently the drinking water is disinfected with chlorine. This project will provide the San Pareil Water Services Area with a second form of disinfection to meet increased regulatory requirements.

The RDN has received a Clean Water & Wastewater Fund grant from the Federal and Provincial Government which will cover 83% of the project costs.

The installation of UV disinfection for the San Pareil Water Service Area directly supports the RDN’s strategic priority to focus on service and organization excellence and deliver efficient, effective and economically viable services that meet the needs of the Region. This project increases the level of service provided to the San Pareil Water Service Area, and does so by using grant money which minimizes the financial impact on participating residents.
