Outlook to 2005Transit Business Plan Update 2003-2005
Outlook to 2005
Continued Funding Freeze Until 2005
The Provincial government has frozen funding for Transit and HandyDART until 2005. No additional cost sharing dollars will be available as costs rise.No Major Expansions During That Period
Until such time as funding does become available or an alternate Transit funding model is found there will be no service expansions.Possible Provincial Fuel Tax To Support Transit Systems
BC Transit is working with the Provincial government to determine the possibility of funding Transit through the Provincial gas tax. This approach would see funds generated from the existing level of gas tax go Transit service communities to support their service.Finding Efficiencies
Continued focus on reducing or providing alternate service on low performing routes.
