Pursuant to Sections 464, 465 and 466 of the Local Government Act notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held regarding the following proposed bylaw: "Regional District of Nanaimo Electoral Area 'H' Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 1335.06, 2017"

What is the Official Community Plan Bylaw about?

Electoral Area ?H? Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 1335.06

An Official Community Plan is a document that includes objectives and policies to guide decisions on planning and land use management within the the area covered by the plan. The Electoral Area 'H' Official Community Plan Area includes the unincorporated areas commonly known as Deep Bay, Bowser, Qualicum Bay, Dunsmuir, Horne Lake and Spider Lake. The Official Community Plan bylaw includes a main policy document that applies to the entire area, as well as the Bowser Village Centre Plan that only applies to Bowser Village Centre.

Amendment Bylaw 1335.06 replaces the main policy document with a new, revised version and amends the Bowser Village Centre Plan by adding or revising several policies and replacing the Development Permit Area text. Where can I get more information?

A copy of the proposed bylaw and relevant documents may be inspected at the hearing or prior to the hearing at the Regional District of Nanaimo office located at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with extended business hours until 5:30 on Wednesdays.

The public hearing for this bylaw will be chaired by Director Veenhof or his alternate as a delegate of the Board. All persons who consider their interest in their property to be affected by the proposed bylaw shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard in person or by written submission at the public hearing. Written submissions can also be submitted in advance of the public hearing and must be received at the RDN office by 4:00 pm, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 to ensure their inclusion in the public record.
