Campfires and Smoking Banned at Descanso Bay Regional Park Campground on Gabriola Island
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is enacting a campfire ban and smoking ban at Descanso Bay Regional Park campground. The ban took effect at noon on Thursday, June 13. Use of CSA or ULC approved propane cooking stoves, barbeques and portable fire pits is still allowed at the campgrounds.
The public is reminded that outside of the two designated RDN campgrounds, fires of any kind are always prohibited in RDN regional and community parks and trails.
This action is in keeping with the campfire ban directive recently released by the Gabriola Fire Department and is due to increased daily temperatures with no precipitation in the immediate forecast. Please play safe and help protect our forests.
