Construction is nearly complete on a new water pumpstation on Northwest Bay Road, near Parksville. This new pumpstation will supply the Nanoose Bay Peninsula Water Service Area with treated Englishman River water for many years to come, and will be completed in anticipation of the joint RDN/City of Parksville Water Treatment Plant coming online later this year. Over the next couple of weeks, the RDN will be commissioning the new pumpstation.
As part of commissioning the new pumpstation, the RDN will be testing the new pumps by introducing higher flows temporarily into the Nanoose Bay Peninsula water system during the week of June 24, 2019. During this process, like watermain flushing, the RDN's Nanoose Bay Peninsula water system customers may experience some intermittent discoloured water during the day from ambient levels of iron and manganese already present in the watermains. Please do laundry only in the evenings. Thank you in advance.
