Clarke Gourlay, Electoral Area G Director

The Regional District of Nanaimo announces that Director Clarke Gourlay passed away over the Canada Day long weekend. Gourlay was the Director of Electoral Area G, which covers the French Creek, San Pareil, and Little Qualicum region. He also served on the Electoral Area Services Committee and the Transit Select Committee, and chaired the Regional Parks and Trails Select Committee and the Oceanside Services Committee.

A long-time resident of the area and an active member of the community, Gourlay managed several local businesses and advocated for the environmental stewardship of the beautiful region that he and his family called home.

"The RDN is deeply saddened by the loss of such a vibrant and engaged member of our community and of our Board," said Chair Ian Thorpe. "We extend our sincere condolences to his family and know that his avid contributions to the region will continue to be felt by residents for years to come.”

Following the loss of Director Gourlay, Alternate Director Joe Stanhope will take on the role of Director for Electoral Area G until a by-election is held.
