Public Notice - RDN Releases New Web-Map

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is excited to announce the release of a new RDN web-map.

For the past several months, the Geographic Information Services (GIS) Team has been updating our mapping software to substantially improve the users’ experience.

This new online (interactive) map will be replacing the current version of RDNMap, which is scheduled to be retired in July 2020. The new map will be available on June 16, 2020 at: www.rdn.bc.ca/gis-mapping.

With the new RDNMap, you have easy access to detailed property information such as addresses, active permits, current zoning, and utilities. The new version is designed to work intuitively on all popular platforms including mobile devices.

Some of the new features that are incorporated into the new web-map are:

  • Improved user interface
  • Mobile friendly
  • Improved search capabilities
  • Printing
  • Help document
  • Google Street View integration

The GIS department at the RDN is here to help with the transition. By using the following e-mail address (gis [at] rdn.bc.ca (gis[at]rdn[dot]bc[dot]ca)) you can request any of the following:

  • Zoom demo for interested participants (larger groups get priority)
  • Phone support to answer and questions or resolve any challenges
  • Respond to any feedback received.
