French Creek Community Park will be closed again starting December 7 to complete the instream works. The completion date is dependent on weather and river conditions.
**UPDATE December 1, 2021**
French Creek Community Park has been temporarily reopened. Residents can expect another closure next week when work resumes.
On behalf of the Province and Emergency Management BC, the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) will be undertaking emergency instream works on French Creek to remove two log jams that pose a risk of impact to private properties. Access to the log jams for removal operations will take place from the French Creek Community Park and will include the use of heavy equipment. Work is expected to commence on Friday, November 26, 2021 subject to weather and river conditions that allow the work to proceed safely. The completion date is dependent on these same conditions.
