Campfire Ban Lifted at Horne Lake Regional Park

Notice - Campfire Ban Lifted

Campfire Ban Lifted at Horne Lake Regional Park

Effective September 11, 2018, the Regional District of Nanaimo is permitting campfires at the Horne Lake Regional Park campground. This action reflects Coastal Fire Centre's notice that campfires are now permitted throughout the Fire Centre area except on Gabriola Island which still has a fire ban in place as directed by their local fire department.

The public is reminded that outside of the two designated RDN campgrounds, fires of any kind are always prohibited in RDN regional and community parks and trails.

The Regional District's overall ban on smoking in RDN parks and trails has also been lifted, except on Gabriola Island.

To report a wildfire call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on most cellular networks.

For updates on conditions at RDN parks and trails, including the status of campfire bans at the RDN's two campgrounds, visit www.rdn.bc.ca/fireban.
