Notice of Regional Growth Strategy Amendment Bylaw

Notice is hereby given that the Board of the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) intends to consider first and second reading, and possibly third reading, of a bylaw to amend the RDN Regional Growth Strategy Bylaw 1615, 2011 at its regular meeting to be held:

The bylaw cited as "Regional Growth Strategy (RGS) Amendment Bylaw No. 1615.03, 2018", (Bylaw 1615.03) makes several minor changes to the RGS that apply to the Town of Qualicum Beach only, resulting from a review of the Town’s Official Community Plan (OCP).
What is the Regional Growth Strategy Amendment About?
In general terms, the RGS amendments resulting from the Town of Qualicum Beach’s OCP review are as follows:
- the Growth Containment Boundary (GCB) be moved so that it is contiguous with the Town of Qualicum’s municipal boundary and
- all land within the Town of Qualicum’s municipal boundary will be designated Urban Area in the RGS.

A copy of the Bylaw No. 1615.03 and other relevant documents may be reviewed during regular business hours at the Planning Department Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with extended business hours until 5:30 pm on Wednesdays. Inquiries and comments may be submitted in writing, and must be received no later than 4:00 pm on the day of the meeting. All correspondence submitted will form part of the public record and may be published in a meeting agenda.
