Electoral Area 'A' Beach Access Inventory 2014

Electoral Area 'A' Beach Access Inventory 2014

In 2014, the Regional District of Nanaimo Electoral Area 'A' Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission undertook and compiled a Beach Access Inventory of various oceanfront road ends throughout Electoral Area 'A'. The intent of the inventory was to identify existing public access locations that might be suitable and desirable to improve public access to the waterfront. Priorities for trail improvement or construction will be considered over time.

It is important to note that all developed and undeveloped road allowances within the Regional District of Nanaimo are under the jurisdiction of the provincial Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI). However, other parties, such as regional governments, can request a permit to construct and maintain trails and other amenities (e.g. signs, garbage cans, benches) within these public rights-of-way. More details about water or beach accesses can be found in the Primer on Water Accesses.
