Alternative Approval Process - Bylaw 1796: Establishing an Electric Vehicle Charging Station Service in Electoral Areas B, E, G and H
Electric Vehicle Charging Service Approved by Residents
The Electric Vehicle Charging Service for four new public electric vehicle charging stations, one in each of Electoral Areas B, E, G, and H, was approved by the electors through an Alternative Approval Process (AAP) that concluded on February 15, 2021 at 4 p.m.
In accordance with Section 86 of the Community Charter, approval by AAP was obtained for this project when less than 10% of electors within the service area submitted an elector response form by the February 15, 2021 response deadline. Of an estimated 19,947 electors, 76 eligible response forms were received.
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is proposing an Electric Vehicle Charging Service for four new public electric vehicle charging stations, one in each of Electoral Areas B, E, G and H. Before the new Service can proceed, affected electors must approve the "Electric Vehicle Charging Station Service Establishment Bylaw No. 1796, 2020". This will be done through the Alternative Approval Process (AAP). The AAP for this Bylaw began on January 6, 2021 and qualified electors can participate through to 4 p.m. on February 15, 2021.
