The City of Nanaimo, City of Parksville, District of Lantzville and Town of Qualicum Beach are responsible for snow clearing within their municipal boundaries.

Within our Electoral Areas - all roads are the responsibility of the Ministry of Transportation Infrastructure.

Road Maintenance includes animal removal, road signs, highways, snow removal and potholes.

Parking on Roads

In the Regional District of Nanaimo, the roads and roadsides are under the authority of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI). If a vehicle is illegally parked, it is a violation of the Motor Vehicle Act, and therefore under MOTI’s jurisdiction. Motor vehicle violations are handled by the RCMP on behalf of MOTI. The RDN does not have the authority to regulate road use or parking.
