The Englishman River Community Storm Water Management Service Area was constructed by a developer in 2003 to service the Rivers Edge Subdivision near Parksville. The storm water detention basin is now owned and operated by the Regional District of Nanaimo.

Cedar Community Storm Water Management Service Area
The Cedar Community Storm Water Management Service Area was constructed by a developer in 2009 to service the Cedar Estates Subdivision in Cedar. The storm water detention basin is now owned and operated by the Regional District of Nanaimo.

Fairwinds Community Rainwater Detention Service
The Fairwinds Community Rainwater Detention Service was established to support the development of the lands around Bonnington Drive and Bradner Circle in Nanoose Bay. The ponds were built by the developer and transferred to the Regional District of Nanaimo in 2023.
