You are eligible to vote as a Resident Elector in a Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Electoral Area if you meet all of the following criteria:
you are 18 years of age or older on general voting day; and
you are a Canadian citizen; and
you have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before you register to vote; and
you are not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in the election, or otherwise disqualified by law.
You do not need to own property to vote as a Resident Elector.
Voting as a Non-Resident Property Elector
You are eligible to vote as a Non-Resident Property Elector if you are not eligible to register as a Resident Elector, and you meet all of the following criteria:
you are 18 years of age or older on general voting day; and
you are a Canadian citizen; and
you have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six months before you register to vote; and
you are not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in the election, or otherwise disqualified by law; and
you have owned property in the jurisdiction where you intend to vote for at least 30 days before you register to vote; and
you are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust; and
you have not registered as a Non-Resident Property Elector in relation to any other parcel of property in the voting jurisdiction; and
If there is more than one registered owner on title, you have the written consent of the majority of the other owners authorizing you to be registered as the Non-Resident Property Elector. (Only one Non-Resident Property Elector is entitled to vote per property.)
